University of Alaska Anchorage is housing U.S. and Russian delegates on campus leading up to the Aug. 15 US-Russia summit with President Trump and President Putin, according to UAA Public Relations.

Due to the lack of hotel space resulting from the height of the tourism season in Alaska, federal officials requested the University of Alaska System to provide accommodations for the delegates, according to UAA Communications and Public Relations Manager Catalina Meyers.

UAA is legally obligated to lease facilities and event spaces on an equal basis to any party, regardless of political affiliations, due to its status as a publicly funded university, according to Meyers.

The two leaders will meet to discuss the war in Ukraine which will take place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, according to the Associated Press.
