The 23rd annual Downtown Summer Solstice Festival was held on June 20 and was hosted by Anchorage Downtown Partnership.

The event was held downtown from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and blocked off West Fourth Ave. and G Street to D Street to make room for market vendors and food trucks.

The summer solstice signifies the longest day of the year with over 19 hours of daylight in Anchorage.

The streets of downtown were packed with hundreds of Anchorage residents and tourists shopping for handmade jewelry, art, pottery and a variety of items sold from over 70 vendors.

Family friendly festivities included live performances from musical artists, dancers and aerialists. Food trucks, beer gardens, and a rock climbing wall lined the streets among arts and crafts vendors.

Visitors could have their picture taken with friends at photo booths, view a vintage car show and participate in a 3-on-3 basketball street tournament. Other activities included the annual Slam’n Salm’n Derby at Ship Creek and the Mayor’s Marathon.
