
The Northern Light interviewed former state Sen. Tom Begich, who is running for governor of Alaska in 2026, about music, education, corporate interests, energy and more.
“Just to be blunt, you know, I think we've gone way too long allowing the largest multinational corporations in the world to take full advantage of our resources, when every other state, especially the red states, are jamming them for full value,” said Begich.
“I need to tap the expertise of those who are growing up in this world to try to address the issues you will face that are on the horizon,” he said. “We're the ones who made climate change happen as rapidly as it happened. You're the ones who have to bear the burden of solving that, and our obligation is to make a path for you to do so.”
