The Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) ran a three-day field training exercise in Wasilla from Sept. 24-27. The UA Anchorage and Fairbanks ROTC programs collaborated to set up the field training. The last exercise of the third day included the ambush exercise. In this exercise, three members of the cadre, who are skilled personnel who train cadets, acted as enemy soldiers in a surprise attack while the training cadets prepared to fire weapons holding blanks. The training exercises are used for third-year army cadets to prepare for Advanced Camp, where they work towards becoming a commissioned officer.
