Cooking disaster sets off smoke

4:32 p.m. – The fire monitoring system displayed an alarm at MAC 3. Two officers responded with the Anchorage Fire Department, but the smoke turned out to be from cooking in MAC 307. There was no fire.

Spring break return ruined

6:11 p.m. – A resident called to report damage to their vehicle that had occurred over the spring break. An officer responded and is investigating. Estimated damage is $50.

Monday, March 26

Drunk pedestrian scores a ride
2:11 a.m. – While at the intersection of the Old Seward Highway and 36th Avenue, an officer observed an intoxicated man in the street flagging down vehicles. The officer made contact with the individual, who said that he was lost. The officer then gave the man a courtesy transport to an off-campus location.

Unattended dorm burglarized

3:51 p.m. – Two students came to UPD to report the theft of items from their North Hall apartment over the spring break. An officer is investigating. Estimated loss is $420.

Bicycling thief picks through car

5:14 p.m. – A student called to report a suspicious person enter a vehicle in the south parking lot and take an item out of the glove box. The subject then left campus on a bicycle. An officer responded, determined the vehicle had not been broken into and left a notice for the owner to contact UPD if anything was missing.

Tuesday, March 27

Thieves target engineering gear
1:37 p.m. – A staff member called to report the theft of a piece of equipment from the engineering building. An officer responded and is investigating. Estimated loss is $750.

Rowdy basketball players foul out

10:17 p.m. – A housing resident called to report a physical disturbance in MAC 4 between a male and a female. Two officers responded and determined that the subjects were part of the basketball team and were roughhousing.

Wednesday, March 28

Crash sends CTO van to shop
9:58 a.m. – A call team officer called to report that the call team officer van was hit by a vehicle at the Wells Fargo Sports Center northwest parking lot. An officer responded and issued two citations to the other vehicle’s driver for failure to yield on a left turn.

Cops to student: ‘You got served’

12:18 p.m. – A bail bondsman came to UPD to request assistance in serving a warrant to a student. An officer responded and assisted in the warrant service in the Gordon Hartlieb Hall.

Thursday, March 29<

Loaned-out laptop lifted by thief

8:32 a.m. – A staff member came to UPD and reported that a laptop computer on loan to a student had been stolen. An officer responded and is investigating.

Bike theft forces student to walk

12:23 p.m. – A student came to UPD and reported that his bicycle had been stolen from the north side of the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. An officer responded and is investigating.

Misplaced car causes concern

4:19 p.m. – A student called and reported his vehicle was missing from the west parking lot. An officer responded and assisted the student in locating the vehicle.

Dude, where’s my wallet?

10:09 p.m. – A student contacted UPD to report the theft of their wallet from a locker in the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. An officer responded to investigate. Estimated loss is still under investigation.
