Sunday, Jan. 23


Driving without license, with pot

2:00 a.m. – While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle parked in a fire lane. The officer approached the vehicle and determined the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. The officer also determined the driver had marijuana on him. The officer arrested the driver and transported him to the magistrate and then to jail. The vehicle was impounded and a towing company removed it. Contact was also made to the dorm room where the subject had come from and another subject was found to be in violation of a minor consuming alcohol. He was issued a summons to appear.

Anger management

10:46 a.m. – A Main Apartment Complex resident adviser requested an officer respond to a MAC apartment where residents found a knife thrust through a boxed food item. An officer responded and determined the action was based on a roommate disagreement. The matter is being addressed by housing staff.

Noisy neighbor

7:36 p.m. – An individual reported her neighbor’s audible home alarm was sounding and there was no one home to silence it as the homeowner was at an event at UAA. UPD contacted the event staff to deliver the message.

Smoky séance

7:39 p.m. – An officer responded to a fire alarm in the Student Union, Room 110 where the student manager said there was a church group burning candles. The group had just blown out the candles near the detector. The Anchorage Fire Department was advised.

Monday, Jan. 24


Officer gives warning

5:43 p.m. – While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle operating without mud flaps on West Campus Drive. The officer stopped the vehicle and issued a citation, and gave the driver verbal warnings for a headlight, taillight and brake light violations.

Tuesday, Jan. 25


Threat removed from campus

4:43 p.m. – The Anchorage Police Department called to request assistance in apprehending a potentially suicidal individual thought to be on campus. Two officers responded and located the individual. He was trespassed from campus and transported to APD.

Wednesday, Jan. 26


Missing money

11:12 a.m. – A sergeant and investigator responded to the University Center about theft of money. The estimated loss is $4,045.

Friday, Jan. 28


Dog on the loose

9:37 a.m. – A UAA staff member reported a dog jumped out of a vehicle by the handicapped parking in the Business Education Building parking lot. Another staff member caught the dog and was holding it by the vehicle. UPD told them who the owner was and the staff member contacted the owner.

Saturday, Jan. 29


Drunk residents

2:18 a.m. – An off-duty resident advisor requested a welfare check on an intoxicated resident that had just walked into the hall. The on-duty resident advisor and resident coordinator were contacted. Two officers determined two subjects under the age of 21 had been consuming alcohol. They were both given summons to appear for the offense.
