Park bench snoozer gets wake-up call
2:40 a.m. – While on patrol in the west campus quad area, an officer observed an intoxicated male sleeping on a park bench. The officer talked to the man who said he was fine, tired and just taking a nap. The officer determined the man was not too intoxicated to be on his own and asked him to leave campus.
Chunk of change lost in computer lab
11:59 a.m. – A student reported the theft of cash estimated at $2,315 from their purse while at the nursing computer lab in the Professional Studies Building . An officer is investigating.
3:02 p.m. – The parent of a juvenile UAA student came to UPD requesting an officer standby while she contacted the student. The juvenile was listed as a runaway in Palmer. An officer provided the service. The individuals were reunited and departed together.
5:18 p.m. – A student reported a vehicle in the library lot was parked in such a way that it was blocking several other vehicles. An officer responded and determined the vehicle had rolled from its original parking space. It impacted, but did not damage, another vehicle. The officer pushed the original vehicle out of the way and left a note for the driver.
6:42 p.m. – A student called to report an individual yelling profanities and being generally disruptive in the Student Union. An officer responded and contacted the student, who agreed to remain quiet.
Wednesday, Sept. 29
Outlaw camping out on campus
5:55 p.m. – A resident advisor called to report the presence of a tent in the woods north of the Birch Lot. Two officers responded and contacted the occupant. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and taken from campus.
Friday, Oct. 1
Underage on the run
12:43 a.m. – A housing resident advisor called for assistance with an underage party in West Hall. A second resident advisor chased one subject toward the Commons. Officers responded and determined one subject to be in violation of minor consumption of alcohol. Two subjects were issued a summons to appear. One subject was trespassed. An officer located the subject that ran and issued a summons to appear for minor consumption of alcohol, a trespass notice and released them to a relative.
Wolf dog harasses moose and calf
10:27 p.m. – A citizen called in to report two male subjects with a hybrid wolf dog were allowing the dog to harass a moose and calf by the Alder Lot. Three officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the subjects. The moose did not sustain any injuries.
