UAA track squads among nation’s academic elite

After receiving seven individual honors earlier in the week, both Alaska Anchorage track & field squads have earned recognition as a whole, placing high on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s lists of All-Academic Scholar Teams for NCAA Division II.

On the men’s side, UAA placed 16th nationally with a combined team grade-point average of 3.07, while the Seawolf women placed 49th on their list with a 3.16 GPA.

To be nominated for the USTFCCCA honor, a team must have a total combined GPA of 3.00 or better. In 2009, there were 162 schools competing at the D-II level, while 174 competed on the women’s side.
