Support group offers services for those in mourning

A grief support group is available tomorrow for anyone wanting to connect with
others about the death of Mabil “Mo” Duir.

Georgia DeKeyser, interim director of the Student Health and Counseling Center and
psychiatric nurse practitioner, said the group offers an intimate setting for people to
know they are not the only ones coping with grief at this time.

“It’s a place to come together and to support each other,” she said.

Attendees will also learn about the grieving process and the feelings they can expect
to have in the coming weeks.

DeKeyser said while everybody grieves differently, it’s important to know how to
deal with those feelings and help those who might need extra support dealing with
the loss of Duir’s life.

She also said two professional counselors are attending the grief support group,
but the Health Center has ongoing services for those wanting to speak privately or
cannot attend.

The Health Center offers free counseling services year-round for students enrolled
in at least six credit hours. The session, however, is open to all faculty, staff and
students, regardless of credit hour enrollment.

from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the Student Union cafeteria.

The memorial is free and open to the public.

The benefit concert requires a $5 minimum donation. Proceeds will go to Duir’s
