Seawolves picked 7th in GNAC poll

The UAA volleyball team was picked to finish seventh in the annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll, released last Friday.

The Seawolves, who finished sixth in the nine-team league last year (15-14 overall, 7-9 GNAC), received 27 points in the balloting. Western Washington gained six first-place votes and edged defending champion Western Oregon, 60-50, for the role of GNAC favorite.

UAA returns five letter winners – including 2008 GNAC Newcomer-of-the-Year Calli Scott, a 5’8″ senior setter and All-GNAC honorable-mention middle blocker Cortney Lundberg, a 6’1″ junior – and welcomes eight newcomers to the lineup.
