Seawolves gain sizable D-I transfer

The Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball program got a big boost in the middle Monday as head coach Rusty Osborne announced that Division I transfer Malcolm Campbell, of Los Angeles, Calif., has signed a scholarship agreement.

Campbell, a 6-9, 255-pound center, comes to UAA after two years at the University of Hartford (Conn.), where he saw limited action in his redshirt freshman season in 2008-09. The largest player on the current Seawolf roster, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.

As a three-year letterwinner at storied Fairfax High School, Campbell was a major contributor on the 2006-07 Lions team that won the L.A. City and CIF Southern Section State titles. He averaged 11 points and 9 rebounds as FHS went 28-5 and was nationally ranked much of the season.
