Knives, shrooms a good mix at APU

7:27 a.m. – APU security called UPD for backup after contacting a suspect with a knife behind an APU building. Responding officers were told to ignore the backup request when APU security determined the suspect was using the knife to cut his mushrooms.

It seemed to be a dumb dial

7:32 a.m. – APD reported a 911 hang-up call from a dorm room in East Hall. UPD responded and found a young man on location attempting to dial long distance. He accidentally dialed 911.

Lounging woman causes commotion

6:13 p.m. – UPD responded to a report of a woman unconscious in the spine over UAA drive for more than seven hours. Investigation revealed the woman and others in the area were fine.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

Fire alarm system works with notes

7:31 – A contractor working the fire alarm system called UPD for assistance when his key to a building got stuck in the lock. Student Safety Patrol responded and provided service that included leaving a message with a locksmith.

Drunk passes out in money spot

7:53 p.m. – APD reported a man down on the bike path across from the ambulance bay doors on Providence Drive. Medics responded and found the man was drunk and just needed to sleep it off.

Dial 9 for outside line, not 911

8:29 – APD reported that a 911 call was abandoned at the University Center. Investigation at Enrollment Services revealed that a person accidentally dialed 911 when attempting to dial an outside line.

Thursday, Aug. 16

PETA in practice

2:06 p.m. – A dog was reported to UPD as having been left in a car with the windows rolled up for more than 45 minutes in the West parking lot. Responding officers couldn’t locate the vehicle.

Moose parades its babies

8:52 p.m. – A West Hall attendant reported a moose cow and two calves nosing around the front of the building. Responding officers could not locate the moose.

Friday, Aug. 17

Doing dirty deeds poorly in library

1:02 p.m. – A library staff member reported a man viewing porn on a library computer. Officers responded and kicked the man off UAA’s defiled property.

Alcohol abuse: More ways than one

3:13 p.m. – A Residence Life worker reported a man and woman drinking alcohol and harassing people on the south bike trail near MAC and West Hall. Officers contacted the subjects and arrested the man via his parole officer. Both subjects were removed from UAA property, but the drunk woman returned. Officers arrested her too.

Go grind somewhere else

7:03 p.m. – The Seawolf Safety Patrol observed three subjects skateboarding and performing tricks in front of the library. Officers responded, but the suspects managed to roll from the scene without being captured.

That’s not what it’s for

7:28 p.m. – A staff member reported that three or four subjects were climbing on the sculpture in front of the Arts building. Officers responded, but the subjects escaped before officers got there.
