Parking Garage 500
12:52 a.m. – Providence Alaska Medical Center security called to report having received word of a vehicle racing around the UAA parking garage. The two responding officers made contact with two vehicles and advised them that the parking garage was closed. The two vehicles departed without incident.
Monday, Aug. 14
No college student left behind
11:20 a.m. – A government agency representative contacted UPD requesting information on a prior student. After verifying authorization, UPD provided the service.
Unattended baggage will be destroyed
3:03 p.m. – A staff member called reporting an abandoned briefcase that had been outside the diplomacy building for several days. An officer responded and determined the briefcase was not a bomb but rather empty and worn-out. The officer threw out the briefcase.
Unattended infants will be destroyed
4:27 p.m. – An individual called to report an unattended infant inside a vehicle with its engine running at the University Center parking lot. An officer responded and searched the area, but neither the vehicle nor the infant could be located.
Tuesday, Aug. 15
You can run but you can’t hide
2:27 a.m. – While on patrol two officers observed a vehicle operating without its headlights on. The officers stopped the vehicle, and the driver and the passenger bailed from the vehicle and took flight on foot. APD was contacted and responded with a canine unit and ultimately located and arrested the driver. He was then transported to Providence hospital for medical clearance. The passenger was also arrested and transported to UPD for processing. An investigation continues.
Wednesday, Aug. 16
This isn’t my bus?
12:03 p.m. – While on Ambassador Drive an officer observed an intoxicated female at the bus stop. The officer contacted a Community Service Patrol van and transported the subject to a sleep-off center.
Thursday, Aug. 17
6:17 p.m. – An officer and Anchorage Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the MAC building 1, where they determined the cause to be unattended cooking.
UPD escort service
7:54 p.m. – A staff member called requesting an escort from a UAA building to a UAA parking lot. An officer responded and provided the escort free of charge.
Friday, Aug. 18
Steamy shower action
9:08 a.m. – An officer responded to a general fire alarm for MAC builidng 6. Anchorage Fire Department and UAA maintenance were notified. The responding officer determined the cause to be steam from a shower. The call to Anchorage Fire Department was cancelled.
9:00 p.m. – UPD received a call from the west housing beaver pond emergency phone. An officer responded, but the caller or callers were gone on arrival, and no one was in the area.
Saturday, Aug. 19
Floodwaters to destroy all daycare!
1:29 p.m. – A staff member called and reported flooding in the Tanaina day care at the Student Union due to rain. UAA maintenance was notified and responded.
Man, eh, child down!
9:37 p.m. – Wells Fargo Sports Center staff reported an injured child at the west entrance above the gym. An officer responded and the Anchorage Fire Department was called. AFD was cancelled prior to arrival because the parents decided to transport the child to the hospital themselves.
