Sept. 13** Parking heat

1:25 a.m. University Police Department received a call reporting broken windows in the aviation complex. Estimated damage is $1,500.

5:06 p.m. A faculty member called UPD to report a suspicious person in military dress carrying a weapon in front of the Business Education Building. An officer responded and determined it was Junior Officer Reserve Training Corps members gathering for the candlelight vigil.

 

Sept. 14 Drinking and Dialing

8:28 a.m. UPD responded to a 911 call from a man in UAA housing. Officers found the man to be drunk and disoriented. He also had an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken downtown.

9:52 p.m. A resident adviser called UPD about an old Ford pickup revving its engine and driving around. When an officer contacted the vehicle the driver said the vehicle was not running properly.

11:10 p.m. UPD responded to a concern about a party in the Main Apartment Complex, and determined that alcoholic beverages were being imbibed. The officers issued five UAA students and three juvenile girls violations for consuming alcohol as a minor. One of the students gave a bogus name to an officer and was later arrested for providing false information.

 

Sept. 15 BMX bandits

1:45 p.m. A student called UPD regarding six to seven juveniles on bicycles peeping into vehicles in the Birch parking lot. Officers checked all lots and bike trails but found no trace of the subjects.

4:23 a.m. While on patrol, an officer noticed a man who appeared ill. Contact was made with the subject and it was determined that he had been drinking. He was issued a MCA and released.

8:03 p.m. A UPD officer spotted a vehicle conduct an improper start from park, and issued a citation to the driver for the offense.

 

Sept. 17 Fugitives and repo men

7:40 a.m. The Anchorage Police Department requested assistance from UPD in locating an armed suspect. Officers responded, but the miscreant had been apprehended off campus.

11:02 a.m. A student contacted UPD about a missing vehicle. Further investigation determined that it had been taken by the dealer for safekeeping.

 

Sept. 18****Look both ways

2:54 p.m. While on patrol an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a person on a crosswalk and issued the driver a citation.
