Students Michaela Hernandez and Ryan Buchholdt as well as faculty member Kimberly Pace will be travelling to the Democratic National Convention to be held on August 23-25 in Denver.
For students in rural communities, UAA is reaching out. The Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program, an organization created to give the indigenous people of Alaska an equal opportunity in the science and engineering fields, has found a new way to provide high school students in Alaska's rural villages a head start for college.
Theatre on the Rocks presents "Fat Pig" Come experience a story about the true nature of beauty, love and our inability to change what we despise about ourselves August 21-September 3 in the Jerry Harper Studio Theatre in the Fine Arts Building. "Fat Pig" is directed by Christina Ashby and stars Jaron Carlson, Jessica Pervier, Kate Williams and Eric Holzschuh.

Monday, July 7 Graffiti discovered at Commons 3:11 p.m. ---- Sometime between the 6th and 7th of July, someone vandalized the concrete wall at the Commons' loading dock. The paint was photographed, and maintenance was notified to remove it. APD is also watching the growing graffiti problem in the bike tunnel at Sharon Gagnon and Elmore.
Whale calf lost in Sydney waters, bonds with yacht SYDNEY, Australia - Australian media say a lost humpback whale calf has bonded with a yacht it seems to think is its mother. The 1- to 2-month-old calf was first sighted Sunday in waters off north Sydney, and on Monday tried to suckle from a yacht, which it would not leave.
