Sunday, Aug. 3
Smoker learns a lesson in littering
5:45 a.m. €" While on patrol an officer observed a subject in a vehicle throwing a cigarette out the window. The officer pulled over the vehicle and issued the driver a citation for littering.
Bushes offer relaxing nature sounds
9:00 a.m. €" While patrolling housing, an officer observed an individual sleeping in the bushes. The officer contacted the subject, who then departed the campus.
Monday, Sept. 4
Students learn not to party at 5 a.m.
5:20 a.m. €" The North Hall resident advisor called reporting an underage drinking party in a third-floor room. An officer responded and determined that five subjects were under the age of 21 and had consumed alcohol. The officer issued the underage subjects tickets for consuming alcohol as minors.
Culinary disaster triggers smoke alarm
7:49 p.m. €" Officers and Anchorage Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in the MAC 3 building and determined the cause to be unattended cooking. The occupants were advised to air out the room before closing things up.
Wednesday, Sept 6
Student receives bike-path beatdown
8:50 a.m. €" A student called advising an individual had been assaulted on the housing fence-line bike trail. Anchorage Police Department was also notified. Two university police officers responded. A juvenile subject was located and charged with assault and robbery. The subject was then transported to Mclaughlin Youth Center where he was contained.
Thursday, Sept. 7
Studiers take violent learning approach
12:07 p.m. €" The West Hall resident advisor called to report an assault between a male and a female who were study partners. An officer responded to investigate and determined the subject had not sustained injuries. Housing will handle the incident.
Officer issues rude awakening
5:52 a.m. €" While on patrol in the Cedar Lot, an officer observed a vehicle with possible subjects sleeping inside. The officer contacted the occupants, who were under 21 years of age and had been drinking. Both suspects were issued a summons to appear for minors consuming alcohol. One of the subjects was issued a summons for furninshing alcohol to a minor and a minor operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol. Suspects were released at the scene.
Resident advisor needs new nose
8:41 p.m. €" The resident advisor on duty called to report the odor of marijuana coming from a housing residence. Two officers responded to investigate and upon arrival did not smell marijuana smoke.
Friday, Sept. 8
Bears make appearance on campus
8:15 a.m. €" University police received a call reporting a sow and cub black bear sighted on the north side of the administration building and moving west. An officer responded and checked the area but could not locate the bears.
Saturday, Sept. 9
Officer finds student alone in the dark
10:12 a.m. €" A staff member came to UPD and reported a man sitting in a dark classroom in the Eugene Short Hall. An officer responded and found the subject was studying an Internet course on a computer.
Templewood Apartment falling apart
1:01 p.m. €" A housing staff member called and reported a garage-door opener fell onto a vehicle parked in the garage in the Templewood Apartments. An officer responded and took down the information. No criminal activity occurred.
UPD recovers student's stolen bicycle
11:38 p.m. €" A subject attempting to locate their bicycle contacted officers in the library parking lot. The subject believed the bicycle was stolen. The description of the bicycle matched a bicycle recovered earlier in the day. The victim was able to positively identify the bicycle.
