Sunday, July 9
Sign of intoxication
3:47 a.m.-An officer patrolling 36th Avenue observed a vehicle that appeared to have run over a traffic control sign. Upon stopping the driver, the officer determined the driver was driving under the influence and arrested the subject. The driver was taken to the Anchorage Jail and the vehicle was impounded.
Disappearing daredevils
4:34 p.m.-Anchorage police dispatch requested UPD check the overhead walkways on UAA Drive and Northern Lights Boulevard for juveniles reported to be climbing on the outside of the structure. UPD checked all walkways in the vicinity and found no unusual activity.
No puffin
7:27 p.m.-A Wells Fargo Sports Complex staff member reported a skateboarder in the vicinity of the building with what appeared to be a marijuana pipe. Officers found nothing unusual.
Wednesday, July 12
Taillights bite driver in the rear
3:40 a.m.-While patrolling Northern Lights Boulevard, an officer observed a vehicle operating without taillights. The officer stopped the subject and issued a citation for the infraction as well as operating without proof of insurance. The driver was also issued a summons to appear for driving without a license, and the officer confiscated paraphernalia and license plates from the vehicle. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
No refills
10:47 p.m.-While conducting a lockup at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium, an officer discovered a bag containing a prescription substance by the front door. The officer secured the contraband and it was destroyed.
MAC'd up on meth
11:30 p.m.-A housing resident coordinator called UPD to report the suspected use of crystal meth in the MAC building. Responding officers observed the possible use of controlled substances and sought a search warrant. Investigation continues.
Thursday, July 13
Early risers
4:39 a.m.-A UAA staff member called to report two male subjects sitting in a parked vehicle in the northwest parking lot of the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. A responding officer determined the subjects were not in violation of the law.
Biker beat-down
3:23 p.m.-A staff member reported three men fighting on the bridge between West Hall and the MAC buildings. Three responding officers found an individual on a bicycle had attempted to rob money from three other men on the trail and had fled the area on the bike. Investigation continues.
Drinking and riding
7:41 p.m.-A resident coordinator called to report three individuals drinking alcohol on the bridge between West Hall and the MAC buildings. The complainant again called to inform UPD that the subjects had left the area heading northbound toward Providence Drive on bicycles. Responding officers could not locate the subjects.
Domestic harassment
11:34 p.m.-A housing resident called to report an individual had left harassing messages on her answering machine. The responding officer continues to investigate.
Saturday, July 15
Burning down the house
8:33 p.m.-An active fire alarm was observed at the MAC building. The responding officer determined the cause to be unattended cooking in an apartment, and the occupants had already extinguished the fire. A request for Anchorage Fire Department assistance was cancelled.
Moose watch
10:55 p.m.-A West Hall desk attendant called to report an adult and two juvenile moose behind the building eating grass. A responding officer monitored their behavior until they departed to the woods to the west.
