Classical music performers Min and Yoon Kwon studied at Juilliard and have played numerous prestigious venues, including the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. The Kwon sisters performed a program of virtuoso pieces at UAA May 26. Virtuoso musical compositions are those that are technically challenging, and give a performer an opportunity to showcase her skill. Timothy Smith, department chair of the music department at UAA, arranged for the Kwon sisters' performance here. Min Kwon said, "Dr. Smith told us that Anchorage audiences love a romantic, virtuoso repetoire."Â쳌 Min and Yoon Kwon's UAA performance included several opera numbers transcribed by legendary virtuoso performers, such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Reminisces de Don Juan," transcribed by Franz Listz for piano, and a selection from Georges Bizet's "Carmen," transcribed by Pablo de Sarasate as "Carmen Fantasie."
