The Spanish Club in partnership with the UAA Multicultural center and faculty members are throwing Fiesta Mexicana from 7-10:30 p.m on April 4th in the Student Union Cafeteria.

“Students have the opportunity to better orientate (sic) themselves with Mexican culture in a fun, interesting way,” said Demry Mebane from Student Activities through e-mail.

The fiesta will start with a salsa dance performance by Kegan Ford from Rumboso ballroom dance studio. Ford will also be teaching a salsa classes following his performance aimed to teach and better familiarize students with this style of dance.

“Although salsa is not a Mexican form of dance, it does share the same characteristics as many Mexican dances,” said event creator Ana Azpilcueta, who is also a Student Activities employee.

The fiesta will also feature Mexican food and refreshments, and a live mariachi band.
