UAA student and Airman First Class Jonathan Villamarin died September 15, 2011 at a friend’s house in Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The cause of death is still under investigation.His funeral took place on Sept. 26 in South Plainfield, NJ.
Villamarin was born in Queens, N.Y, and grew up in South Plainfield, N.J. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force and moved to Alaska.
While taking a class at JBER, Villamarin was a weapons load crew member with the 3rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
His is survived by his parents , Gloria and Davismar Villamarin, and his brother Bryant.
In a public obituary, the parents wrote:
“Our beloved son, Jonathan, has been taken by the hands of God to Heaven. Jonathan will be missed by so many because he has touched so many people’s lives. Jonathan will always be remembered by that infectious and beautiful smile that he always had. His charisma filled everyone’s lives with happiness and joy. He was a best friend to all and a loving son to us. He was always dedicated to flying and one day being a pilot. We know that he is flying high above us and watching over us. Jonathan, We love you and miss you so much son.”
